Cable VS. Telecom
My career techologist friend was telling me about how he just hooked up his cable modem to download a big file after realizing that to download the same file over the DSL line he has had from Bellsouth for the last 4 years, would have taken about 7 times as long. If you have had both, which for you was faster? Cable for me put DSL to shame, so Comcast is my choice. As more and more people need faster and faster connections for video, it sure seems like CMCSA is better positioned to take share than telecom. Add to that the ability to offer the "triple play", voice, TV and phone service, and it is hard to see how cable isn't going to win this war. Are you really going to get TV service from Bellsouth (ATT)? That is what T is saying, but right now, I think CMCSA has the lead. I am going to pick away at CMCSA beginning tomorrow and re-establish my position that I sold a couple weeks ago. Another stock to look at is VMED, a UK based cable operator.
