Water Water.....

Water is a precious commodity, more precious than oil or gold and the world has plenty of it, but in many places the potable kind is threatened through pollution and growth. Meeting the increasing needs for potable water around the world is big business. Look at the massive problems in China and its lack of water quality (do a google search on "china water quality to see what I mean). GE has developed into the major player in this sector largely through acquisitions over the last 5 years. This morning, they announced their first water investment in Europe.

What are the ways to play water? The conservative, diversified way is through a water ETF called PHO. Other ways are through ITT which has a water business. More speculative ways are through FLS and WTS, as well as my personal highly speculative play, MWA and MWA/B. As I mentioned last week, this stock MWA/B is a recent spin out from WLT. Volume has picked up dramatically in the last few days and the stock has gone from 13.50 to over 15 as of this morning. Keep in mind that this is a speculative play.
